James Cameron Has Done It Again
We all knew one way or another Avatar was going to be a huge hit for James Cameron, however while all the tech nerds are saying 3D shouldn't and wont be in our homes, it seems that people are folking to watch Avatar. While my reports from 20th Century Fox wont tell me which one has been more successful, from personal experience of attending Avatar I can say that the 3D cinema was packed, and I would not be surprised if this is the reason for Titanic being sank.
Yes reports that the media have been told that Avatar net value of US$1.38 billion which has way out done predictions, as many people said that Mr Cameron just could not do what he did for Titanic again.
It seems once you have a following like Mr Cameron has, it would be hard not to want to see what this director has done. While the movie cost US$230 Million (source: Wikipedia), and took well over 6 years in the making. It seems this film will have a longer then expected cinema release due to the success of the film.
We can also expect to see avatar on our TV’s every soon, with the release of the DVD due for release in the middle of 2010. While for a 3D version of Avatar while that maybe what we all would want, sadly with technology it may not be released til 2011 or later.
Sources have also said that a second Avatar maybe in the making, however I would have to disagree with this, due to the fact that what would the story line be? We know that they lived happily ever after, and unlike Transformers or Matrix. James Cameron seems to make a movie that will touch our hearts once but have a lasting memory for ever.
Just think would you like for him to create a new Titanic that showed you what they got up to after the ending of the first Titanic? I don’t think so.
As for James Cameron's future who knows it will be an interesting development to follow his career after such a success which many thought he would never be able to repeat. Fox must be wishing they gave Mr Cameron 100% of the funding for the movie since it is a smash HIT!
